1994 - 2005 Miata Supercharger Kit

Quality & Design

The first thing you will notice when you receive your supercharger is the quality of manufacturing. From our laser-cut and tig-welded brackets, to our CNC adapters and mounts, our kit uses either stainless steel or aluminum components. No other company goes to such extreme lengths to produce such a high quality product. While some may attempt to copy our components, they don't use the higher grade materials.

The SOT Supercharger is what we call a "Hotside" supercharger. This is used to describe the location of the supercharger on the exhaust side of the head. This design allows us to cut the installation time down to 6 hours, and provides plenty of room for an efficient intercooler to be installed down the road for even more power. Weight was also an important consideration to us from the beginning. The kit adds approximately 35 lbs to the Miata when all is said and done. While we could have saved a few pounds by relocating the supercharger, we would have had to sacrifice the efficiency and upgradeability of the kit, and dramatically increased installation time and the difficulty to do it. The end result is the most efficient supercharger kit on the market with the fastest, easiest installation, and more available upgrade potential than any other kit available.

Driving

Our MP62 features a vacuum actuated bypass valve that opens when not in boost, allowing air to flow around the supercharger. This means your gas mileage is virtually unaffected when you are not in boost. Previous customers report only losing 0.5mpg highway with their kits installed. Some have even reported gas mileage improving! This also means that, under part throttle, your Miata will drive like it always did.

Of course, all this changes when you get on the accelerator pedal. The actuator closes and the MP62 goes to work to produce the smoothest power possible. Power is significantly improved throughout the entire RPM range to produce a driving experience like no other. The neat thing about the SOT Supercharger is how well it mimics the factory power curve (with gobs more power of course); resulting is a driving experience that is still, obviously Miata.

Reliability

Through thousands of man hours, Mazda managed to get the Miata right is so many ways. The Miata is one of the most reliable sports cars you can buy, even 15 years later. We knew that reaching this same level would be tough, and we are certain we have risen to the challenge. For starters, we chose the Eaton MP62 blower as the centerpiece of out kit. This is the most reliable supercharger on the market today, and has been used for countless years by Mercedes, Ford, GM, BMW (Mini), Nissan, and Jaguar to name a few. These blowers are internally oiled and under normal operating conditions require zero service for 100,000 miles.

To drive our supercharger we use our 6-rib belt drive and auto-tensioner system. The 6-rib provides more grip on the pulley, allowing us to use less belt tension, and extend supercharger bearing life. The auto-tensioner assembly not only increases belt life, but makes changing belts a breeze. All of our 6-rib nose and crank pulleys are CNC machined from billet aluminum. Each pulley is precision machined to the tight tolerances required for proper fit into the Miata's crank pulley or the shaft of the EATON MP62. As always, proper tolerances for sheave and groove dimensions have been engineered into the design for proper function with v-ribbed belts.

The supercharger is mounted using a combination of tig-welded stainless steel and CNC aluminum brackets that will never rust or fail, and our lower brace is rubber isolated to keep vibrations dampened. Heavy silicone connectors and high quality liner ring clamps ensure that connections will not fail.

The crossover pipes (aluminum), outlet manfiold (CNC machined aluminum body) and dummy throttle body (stainless steel) each compliment one another in textured black powder coat finish.
Stainless steel supercharger mounting brackets and nose pulley are pre-installed by Magnuson Products, the supercharger manufacturer.
Supercharger's under brace support features a rubber vibration isolator and spherical rod ends for precise length adjustment as well as proper fore and aft supercharger positioning.
Black hard anodized supercharger nose pulley and crank pulley. Each pulley is precision machined to the tight tolerances required for proper fit. As always, proper tolerances for sheave and groove dimensions have been engineered into the design for proper function with v-ribbed belts.
Available with or without engine management!
Available with or without the standard crossover tube. If you plan to either fabricate your own intercooler kit, or purchase an existing kit on the market, then you will not need the standard crossover tubes in the kit. We give you the option to eliminate that assembly from the kit and reduce the kit's cost.
If you plan to use other engine management &/or an intercooler, then you're likely the type of customer that may want to increase the crank pulley size on your kit. We allow you to delete the standard 95mm crank pulley from the kit for a reduction in kit price. You can then select a crank pulley of your choice (see "Related Items" below or find the crank pulleys in the "Supercharger Upgrades" section of our site.)

For those customers who wish to source their own engine management, a/a intercooler, or perhaps start off with a larger than standard crank pulley (95mm is standard), we offer the ability to purchase your kit with or without the components that suit your needs best.
