Stage One Tuning  is a division of Barker Products. Barker Products is a family owned and operated business that was founded in 1949. Setup into two divisions (Barker Products, and Barker Air & Hydraulics), the second generation of the Barker family is included in the day-to-day operations and management of the companies.

The core business of Barker Products focuses on fluid power and lift unit departments for heavy industries such as textile and document destruction.  However, our business is global and well known companies such as Michelin, Goodyear, Golkdist, and Purolator have benefited from our products and services.

Our fluid power department specializes in the manufacturing of hydraulic components & systems, logic & process controls, and the fabrication of special machinery and devices. Our lift unit department specializes in the manufacturing of hydraulic lifting devices for the refuse and document destruction industries. Our lifter units can be found across the United States and Canada in municipal and industrial applications. In this very competitive market we are the largest independent manufacturer of lift units. In addition, our fluid power and lift unit departments also collaborate to manufacture critical test equipment for the nuclear power utilities.

Barker Products also offers contract machining, welding, and tube / pipe fabrication. In April of  2001 Barker Products was contracted for design, production and assembly work for a supercharger kit for the Mazda Miata. The launch of that Eaton MP62 based Miata supercharger kit was a success and greatly altered the forced induction market in the Miata community. Over the years that supercharger kit would be improved upon and has evolved into the kit that it is today.

In 2006 the company who contracted Barker Products for the Miata supercharger projects was put out of business. Shortly thereafter Barker Products did an asset acquisition of that company and began operating the acquired division under the Stage One Tuning banner.

Understanding that our role and specialty was in production and assembly, we sought out a new distributor for the supercharger kits.  We sought a partner who would have the experience and reputation to provide marketing, sales, and technical support to the end user.  We partnered with Flyin Miata (FM) to become our primary distributor of Mazda Miata supercharger kits.  FM has been in business for over 25 years! This partnership combines our quality kit components with their engine management options, experienced support staff and customer sales and service capabilities to make a truly winning team.
