ACT recognizes that every driver and engine set-up is unique, so a variety of complete clutch kits and components are offered to match virtually any situation. ACT’s complete clutch kits include a pressure plate, disc, release bearing, and (in most cases) a pilot bearing and alignment tool.  Torque capacities are provided for every clutch combination. 

Most performance enthusiasts relate more to horsepower rather than torque, but clutch capacity is best measured in terms of torque. Think in terms of comparing a high rpm 250hp Honda Civic versus a Dodge Cummins turbo diesel which has the same horsepower. The diesel will need about three times the clutch capacity because the engine produces about three times the torque. ACT started rating their clutches years ago so people will have an honest estimate of what to expect. ACT provides the percentage of clamp load increase and the estimated torque capacity for each application.

Consider carefully which clutch is right for your car. First you need a clutch that will hold all the power, but not too excessive. For street use, you also need a long lasting clutch that has a positive feel, smooth engagement and quiet operation. For racing, you need a tough clutch that will enable quick shifts and hard slips all the way to the finish line.

• Heavy Duty (HD): Clamps load increase of 20% to 50%, Pedal feels stock to moderate, Many SFI Certified to insure safety
• Xtreme (XT): Clamps load increase of 50% to 120%, Pedal feels moderate to stiff, Many SFI Certified to insure safety

Street Disc Codes (as seen in Mfg. part number)

• Modified Street Disc (MM): Recommended for Street or occasional Race, Quicker engagement, Quiet operation, Improved friction material and/or hub strength. Modified discs have a modified marcel to compliment ACT pressure Plates and enable quicker action.  Certified SFI SPE. 1.1
  
• Performance Street Disc (SS): Recommended for Street and Race, Quicker engagement, Quiet operation, Best organic friction material, improved hub and burst strength.  SS discs include special performance organic friction materials to withstand increased heat and abuse.  They feature steel backed lining for high burst strength and are modified for quicker shifting.  Certified SFI SPEC. 1.1
